Terms and conditions
Last updated 14 September 2026.
These terms apply to your use of Lineage of the Church (“the site”), operated by [site owner to be confirmed] (“we”, “us”). By using the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
1. What the site is
The site is a free, general-interest reference that sets out the leaders of several churches on a shared timeline. It is for information only. It is not an official publication of, and is not endorsed by, any church or religious body, and it does not state any church’s teaching.
2. Accuracy
We work to keep the information accurate, but much of it comes from third-party sources, and early church history is often uncertain or disputed. The site is provided “as is”, without any promise that it is complete, accurate or up to date. Please do not rely on it for academic, legal, genealogical or other decisions without checking a primary source.
3. Content and licences
- Wikipedia text. Biographies are reproduced from Wikipedia under CC BY-SA 4.0. You may reuse that text under the same licence, with attribution to Wikipedia.
- Images. Portraits come from Wikimedia Commons under their own licences, which you must follow if you reuse them.
- Everything else. The site’s design, code, chart layout, illustrations and original writing belong to [site owner to be confirmed], unless stated otherwise. You may link to the site and share screenshots for personal, educational or review purposes with credit. Please ask us before reproducing it in any other way.
4. Using the site
Please do not misuse the site: for example, by trying to disrupt it, gain unauthorised access to it, or copy it wholesale by automated means.
5. Links to other sites
The site links to Wikipedia and other websites. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices.
6. Liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of the site or your reliance on its content. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law.
7. Changes
We may update the site and these terms from time to time. The date at the top shows when the terms last changed.
8. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [governing law to be confirmed].
